Michael Silverstein, 61, of Westport, was charged with breach of peace after the incident on Friday afternoon, Fairfield Police Lt. Antonio Granata told Newsweek. The man had arrived at the front door of the office and “immediately began yelling insults at the volunteer workers inside,” Granata said. After one of the volunteer workers in the office had offered to help him, he became “confrontational.” This “caused the volunteer worker to take out their cell phone in an attempt to record the incident,” Granata said....

Zuern reportedly contracted the virus after visiting her mother in South Dakota, following the death of her father. During their return trip to Bourne, both women contracted the illness, the Cape Cod Times reported. While her mother survived, a MedFlight had to transport Zuern to a Boston hospital in early June. She fell into a coma and was placed on a ventilator until she died. She hadn’t gotten vaccinated against the virus, her friends told the aforementioned publication....

The third annual national defense survey from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute published Wednesday found a growing sense of “pessimism” toward nearly every traditional American institution. Confidence and trust in the U.S. military fell from 70 percent in 2018 to 56 percent in 2021, which still makes the armed forces the most respected of the seven groups addressed in the survey. Only 38 percent of Americans under 30 gave the military good marks alongside 44 percent of Black Americans....
