While the order calls for publication to cease by the end of this month, it gives the actual organization behind Stars and Stripes a little more time to dissolve itself—until the end of January 2021. As noted by The Associated Press, this news comes after a Pentagon effort earlier this year to save the $15.5 million that’s budgeted towards the paper. The House of Representatives passed a budget that would allow funding for Stars and Stripes, but the Senate has yet to sign off on a new bill to fund the Defense Department....

Pence, who spoke with ABC News anchor David Muir on Monday night, talked about his perspective on the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021, and promoted his upcoming book So Help Me God that is scheduled for release on Tuesday—the same day Trump plans to make a “major announcement” from his Mar-a-Lago estate. In the interview, Muir asked the former vice president what he called “a pretty straightforward question.”...

In an op-ed for Moskovsky Komsomolets, a Kremlin-friendly tabloid with a circulation of more than one million, journalist Mikhail Rostovsky described Trump’s move as “reckless.” Headlined “Putin has won the lottery, the unexpected triumph of Russia in the Middle East,” Rostovsky’s piece started by saying that “those who are certain that Trump is of no use to Russia, should think again.” His assessment is that Trump’s decision, which was followed by a bombardment by Turkish forces in the north of Syria, has actually strengthened Moscow’s “already rather strong political position” in the region....

Trump broadened the debunked claim Saturday that Democratic National Convention organizers took out the word “God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. Although the line was omitted from some small DNC meetings, the words “under God” were included in several of the convention’s prime-time TV recitations of the pledge — including one version said by Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s grandchildren. The omission of “under God” was not included in any official DNC guidelines....

Trump responded to several supporters at a rally in Londonberry, New Hampshire, Sunday afternoon who were holding an Armenian flag and yelling “I love you” as he spoke at the podium. Former Vice President Joe Biden last week accused Trump of being indifferent to the deadly clash and ceding leadership in the region to Moscow. Biden said Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are “coddling” Turkey, and he warned Iran to stay out of the military battles that have caused hundreds of casualties —including civilians—since late September....

Mary appeared on MSNBC’s The ReidOut on Friday to discuss the recordings. The 55 year old is the daughter of the president’s late older brother Fred Trump Jr., who died in 1981. She wrote a tell all book published in July titled: Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, and has since been releasing secretly recorded audio clips. In the recordings released Friday, Barry can be heard complaining about Ivanka’s conduct and mocking Eric Trump, the president’s second son....

On Wednesday, Senators voted to acquit Trump on the abuse of power and obstruction of Congress articles, 48-52 and 47-53, respectively. Only one Republican, Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, voted to convict Trump, siding with Democrats on the impeachment charge of abuse of power. Following the vote, Trump posted on Twitter that he would be making a public statement on Thursday at noon from the White House to “discuss our country’s victory on the impeachment hoax....

The survey, which was conducted by GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio, found that the former president was by far the top choice for 2024 with 51 percent of Republican support. But when Trump was taken out of the picture, DeSantis and Pence were tied at 22 percent as a second choice for voters. Following closely behind them was Cruz, with 19 percent of voters indicating support for the Texas Republican....

The actor, who is a vocal Trump voter, posted a 2-minute-long clip on Twitter on Wednesday condemning the search of Trump’s residence in Florida that took place earlier this month as part of an investigation into the removal of some presidential records at the White House. Trump called the raid “prosecutorial misconduct” and a “weaponization of the Justice System,” saying that the search was hatched by “Radical Left Democrats” seeking to prevent him from running for president in 2024....

The Congressional committee investigating the January 6, 2021, riot convened on Monday for its final meeting, in which members unanimously approved its final report and issued criminal referrals against Trump. The committee has sought to prove Trump’s involvement in inciting the riot, where a mob of his supporters unsuccessfully tried to force Congress to block President Joe Biden’s electoral college victory. The committee played video of Hicks’ testimony, in which she said at the end of her tenure in the Trump White House, she became “increasingly concerned” that Trump’s unfounded claims of widespread election fraud would tarnish his legacy as president....

“The governors in four of the states hit hardest by the coronavirus have taken a massive hit in public approval over their handling of the pandemic,” Axios wrote about the survey results. Between May 11 and July 19, online survey platform SurveyMonkey questioned adults in several states, including Arizona, Florida, Georgia and Texas, about how they felt their governor was handling the state’s coronavirus response. While Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp’s approval among residents fluctuated mildly during the 10-week period, his 44 percent approval rating for his handling of the virus was about the same in mid-July as it was two months earlier....
