A BBC analysis conducted this week found that in the lead-up to November’s midterm election, primary GOP candidates endorsed by Trump have won 92 percent of the time. This election cycle, the former president has weighed in on almost 200 races across the nation—the highest number of candidates he’s endorsed than any other year. While the majority of his endorsements have been for incumbents, a number of Trump-backed challengers have also beat out candidates who have drawn the former president’s ire over their criticisms of him....

Tim Murtaugh, communications director for the president’s 2020 campaign, announced on Friday that the rally will happen in a week or two. “The rally scheduled for Saturday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, has been postponed for safety reasons because of Tropical Storm Fay. It will be rescheduled and a new date will be announced soon,” he said in a statement. Fay formed off the coast of North Carolina and is expected to move toward the mid-Atlantic in a northerly path as it passes over New York and portions of New England....

The president has repeatedly referred to the sickness as the “Chinese Virus,” dismissing concerns that such rhetoric might encourage racist sentiment....

Ross, 81, looked like he was dozing off as Trump spoke to the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday, closing his eyes for nearly 15 minutes, according to several videos recorded during the event in New York City. Trump spoke briefly about ongoing attempts at negotiating trade talks with China, which Ross is helping to lead. Fifty percent of respondents said they would vote for Biden if the election were held today, compared with 42 percent that sided with Trump. Seven percent of respondents said they were uncertain about their choice. The poll, which was conducted by Gravis Marketing, surveyed 796 registered and likely voters in Wisconsin on July 22. Biden has said that Trump’s presence at the U.S. Capitol on January 20 would be an important signal, telling CNN: “It is totally his decision and it’s of no personal consequence to me,” but adding, “I do think it is for the country.” However, as Trump continues to dispute the election result, the chances of his becoming a no-show are growing.
